Photograph of an Unusual View Point: Doorway of Flowers - In this assignment our job was to take a picture of an object from an unusual perspective. For my perspective I chose to angle the camera and place the flower pot on top of my door to create a new angle for which the viewer can see. August 2016
Operation Greatful Nation Drawing: Watchful Eye - The purpose of this assignment was to create a work of art that showed our gratefulness to the US military. The key part in my work is how the sun plays a role as the pupil of an eye. September and October 2016
Pinwheels for Peace: Space Turtle - For this assignment we had to create a pinwheel that represented peace to us. I find turtles very relaxing because of how slow they are. Taking things slow reminds me of space, because there's so many details and places to go, you have to take it easy and look at all of it. Hinge the name, Space Turtle. October and November 2016
Straw Paintings: Caterpillars and Trees - For this assignment we used straws to blow paint around a piece of paper, then we had to find two images from the splattered paint. One of the two images we would have to modify. My modified picture is a catipillar that wants to eat a leaf. The other picture is of a palm tree. November 2016
Abandoned - A creepy and dark portrayal of a school corridor, what secrets lie within? This assignment is my personal favorite, because realism took place as the main style. Perspective-Realism is hands down my strongest form of art. After many years of learning perspective from my past teacher, (Who, by the way, loved guitars) drawing in multi point perspective became a walk in the park. This assignment specifically brought out my strengths, because we had to create a unique one point perspective drawing of a hallway, and we had to make it special and surreal.
Burning Time - I don't have too much to say about this one, other than it didn't have any inspiration. For this assignment, we had to use different materials and art principles in order to make a work of art. This piece went through many different ideas and stages, but ultimately ended up turning into what you see above.I guess when I was first making it I wanted to do some sort of illusion with time, but it wasn't working so I just had to start painting other things.
Deathly Dresser - This was one of the more fun projects. For this assignment, we had to use several sheets of paper to create a three dimensional sculpture. Originally I had wanted to create a town with a big bell tower in the middle, but eventually I changed my mind and did a hat. As I was scavenging pieces of paper, I found an odd shaped piece of cardboard that resembled a vest, and from there I started working on the suit. One of the teachers was kind enough to let me borrow their skeleton, and "Felipo" as we call him became the model for my paper suit. His looks are to die for!
